Forteza - XVI

The Virtue of Fortitude

Forteza of course is an old acquaintance in Tarot, we know her as Fortitude, as Strength, La Forza and in Crowley's Thoth deck, as 'Lust' (or 'Passion' in Corvidospeak). The lion as symbol of strength is almost always present, the stele she so valiantly breaks not so much.

In Plato's world, Forteza was assigned to the warrior class, clearly standing for courage, vigor and wilpower. As a cardinal virtue in medieval Europe, Fortitude became the firmness and constancy in the pursuit of the good, endurance and perserverance.
