Clio (or Kleio) is considered the muse of history and writing, her name comes from both the Greek 'kleos', which translates as 'heroic acts' and the verb 'kleo', which means 'to make famous'. She is the scholar and researcher who records and remembers things of the present and the past.
Clio is usually depicted with an open scroll of paper and a laurel wreath, sometimes also with a clarion. The Mantegna card once again omits her well known insignia, which doesn't keep this card from being my favorite.
